Announcement - Computational Science and Engineering Laboratory Assistant
I joined ITB's Computational Science and Engineering Laboratory as a laboratory assistant after completing a challenging selection process.

I am happy to share that I became a laboratory assistant for the Computational Science and Engineering Laboratory at Institut Teknologi Bandung. The selection process was demanding, and reaching this point took persistence and a lot of learning.
About IRK
IRK (Ilmu dan Rekayasa Komputer), or Computational Science and Engineering, supports several Informatics courses, including:
- Discrete Mathematics
- Geometric and Linear Algebra
- Formal Language Theory and Automata
- Algorithm Strategies
- Probability and Statistics
The selection process
The selection lasted around two months and was structured like a competitive points-based challenge. There were 11 tasks, each with its own problem and solution, drawing on topics from IRK courses.
Each task could award regular points and bonus points, with the final points affected by a multiplier based on submission order. The first submission received a 1.00x multiplier, the second 0.95x, the third 0.90x, and later submissions 0.80x. This made both solving the tasks and submitting promptly important.
The process also pushed me to do independent research and learn beyond what we had already covered in class. I found that especially useful: every task brought a different problem and required a fresh approach.
A new beginning
After the selection, I joined the laboratory assistant team. I am grateful for the opportunity and excited to contribute to the courses that first helped me build this foundation.
