Wisokto HMIF 2023

Wisokto HMIF 2023 was my first contribution to HMIF ITB, the Informatics Student Association at Institut Teknologi Bandung. Soon after joining the association, I became a committee member for this event.

What is Wisokto?

Wisokto, short for Wisuda Oktober (October Graduation), is a celebration for the graduating students. It is the last sign-off before they leave, and each student association takes part as a gift to its graduating members. It shows respect, honor, and thanks for everything those members did for the association.

The event peaks with the arak-arakan, where the active members lead the graduates in a march across the whole institute while singing the association hymn.

The arak-arakan

My role: MSDM (Human Resource) staff

I was a staff member of the Human Resource division, called MSDM in Indonesian. The division oversees the whole committee and helps whenever management problems come up.

My responsibilities were:

• Supporting the Operation division. I looked after the 8 members who handle everything the event needs, and helped with people problems such as who takes which job.
• Keeping committee data. I organized and maintained records for the other 183 committee members. The records are handed to the association so it can track each member's contribution.
• Evaluating staff. We scored whether the staff in our assigned division were doing their jobs well, so the best staff of each division could be chosen. For the Operation division, I was the one choosing.

Closing

Wisokto 2023 was one of my best experiences in HMIF ITB. The arak-arakan was thrilling and full of emotion, with a real sense of belonging. If I had been one of the graduating students, I would have been sad to say goodbye to such a beloved association.

Here is my participation certificate as proof of taking part in Wisokto HMIF 2023.
